DALLAS (Dec. 18, 2019) – The Dallas Foundation announced that it awarded $2,185,090 to support 35 nonprofit organizations helping the greater Dallas community thrive. The grants were awarded from the Foundation’s Field of Interest and Community Impact funds.
“We are proud to partner with nonprofits that are creating transformational change right here at home,” said Matthew Randazzo, president and CEO of The Dallas Foundation. “For over 90 years, we’ve invested in solutions that positively impact the individuals and families who live in Dallas to help them reach their full potential.”
As the first community foundation in Texas, The Dallas Foundation has committed its efforts to identifying community needs and leading the effort to address them. It also provides counsel and support for philanthropists who are developing and launching innovative solutions of their own.
The Foundation’s Field of Interest funds focus on specific causes or issues based on the interests of the donor who established them. The Community Impact Fund serves as The Dallas Foundation’s general endowment and supports a variety of causes for the betterment of the community.
This year, The Dallas Foundation is investing well over a third of grant dollars in organizations that promote the social, educational and emotional health of young children, from addressing childhood poverty and family homelessness to early childcare and learning, and children’s mental health. A few recipients of this year’s grants include:
- ChildCareGroup will use its gift to increase staffing for new infant and toddler classrooms.
- Commit!2Dallas will fund a campaign to increase local awareness on the importance of early childhood education.
- Interfaith Family Services’ grant will go toward providing a low-cost, extended-hours childcare program.
- Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth will work to expand the number of high-quality early childhood educators.
“The Dallas Foundation is focused on Dallas and on the future well-being of this community,” said Jeanne Whitman Bobbitt, Chair of the Board of Governors. “Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to invest in programs and services where our grants make a substantial difference in our community, especially for those who are most vulnerable.”
Since its founding, The Dallas Foundation has awarded more than $800 million in grants.
The Dallas Foundation also offers resources for nonprofit organizations interested in applying for funds, including a grantmaking seminar on Jan. 8, 2020, at Community Partners of Dallas. The seminar will provide information about the decision-making process, application tips, the proposal structure, an explanation of funds, and a timeline for the coming funding cycles.
