The Dallas Foundation typically hosts at least two grant cycles per year.
The Spring Grant Cycle includes disbursements from endowed funds customized to align with a donor’s interest in a specific cause. They are entrusted to the Foundation to award grants that both meet the purpose of the fund and make an impact in our community. These Field of Interest Funds cover a range of issues, including animal welfare, the arts, domestic violence, and health.
Through our Summer Grant Cycle, The Dallas Foundation deploys resources from our Community Impact Fund and a select number of Field of Interest Funds that align with our strategic priorities, which focus on driving meaningful results for children and families. Building on our legacy of nurturing early childhood programs, our strategic priorities have evolved to include investments in the ages of birth to three that ensure a strong and healthy start, as well as programs that ensure community and economic resiliency.

2024 Summer Grant Cycle
The Dallas Foundation’s Summer Grant Cycle consists of disbursements from The Dallas Foundation’s Community Impact Fund, which focuses on our strategic priorities to ensure a Strong & Healthy Start and Community & Economic Resilience, as well as several Field of Interest Funds, which are endowed funds customized to align with a donor’s interest in a specific cause.
The Summer Grant Cycle will begin accepting LOIs on Monday, July 15 through 5 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024.
Those selected to move forward will be notified in early September, with a full application due by close of business on Monday, September 23, 2024. Final grant decisions will be made in early December following the Board of Governors meeting.
The Summer Grant Cycle is open to proposals from nonprofit organizations working in Dallas County and focused on the following areas:
Support for projects that build a strong & healthy start for children with an emphasis on prenatal to three care, family homelessness, and child and youth mental health. Sponsored by the Community Impact Fund, Annie L. Stevens Fund, and Elizabeth T. Robinson Fund.
Support to provide the necessities of life, including food, clothing, emergency and transitional shelter, and healthcare to children and families who are low-income, indigent, homeless, or ill. Sponsored by the Community Impact Fund, Louise B. & Mary Ratliff Fund for Critical Needs Fund, Joseph & Barbara McQuillan Memorial Fund, and Darwin & June Hodges Fund.
Support for education & workforce development, including Pre-K12, out of school time programs, and post-secondary access; Support for economic empowerment, including entrepreneurship and employment; and Support for housing and neighborhood infrastructure, including affordable housing and property support, transportation, infrastructure (i.e., broadband, utility access, sidewalks, etc.), and access to parks and recreation. Sponsored by the Community Impact Fund and The George R. Schrader Innovative Education Fund.
Support for disabled, blind, and deaf children; Support for the education of intellectually and developmentally disabled children to enable them to lead productive lives; and Support for older adults, including low-income older adults. Sponsored by Annie L. Stevens Fund, Elizabeth T. Robinson Fund, Bertice Carter Speck Fund, and Jalonick Memorial Fund for Special Needs Education.
Spring Grant Cycle
The Dallas Foundation’s Spring Grant Cycle focuses on a limited number of interest areas as determined by the donors who established the granting funds. These funds are managed and disbursed by The Dallas Foundation to meet the community’s current needs within the areas below.
The 2024 Spring Grant Cycle is no longer accepting Letters of Inquiry (LOIs).

The Foundation accepts letters of inquiry (LOIs) and grant applications through our online portal. To access an existing account or create a new account, please click on the link below. Once logged in, available LOI’s and grant applications are accessible by clicking on the “Apply” button.

Grant Restrictions
Funds are generally not available for:
Programs or services that do not serve Dallas County residents
Annual Fund campaigns, underwriting of fundraising events, and marketing campaigns
Religious purposes (although we do support educational and social service programs offered by faith-based organizations)
Endowments
Individuals
